Invisalign
Invisalign orthodontic appliances are an alternative to traditional metal brackets and wire. Your Eastwood orthodontist can create the perfect orthodontic plan for you using Invisalign braces if that interests you. Dr. Ross Taddeo has a office in East Orlando, FL a short skip from Eastwood. We have included information for you to become familiar with Invsalign treatment before your consultation appointment.
How Invisalign Braces Work
Invisalign aligners are made from a strong plastic that is molded to your unique teeth. Each set of clear plastic aligners snaps in and out of your mouth, and each new set helps move your teeth gradually into position.
Every week you switch to a new set of aligner trays. Your orthodontist will take regular x-rays and pictures to determine if the Invisalign braces are effectively moving your teeth in the way he/she wants the teeth to go. With good oral hygiene, while wearing Invisalign, you can remove the appliance to brush and floss your teeth and then reinsert it when you're done.
When your Invisalign treatment plan is complete, you will have to wear a retainer. Dr. Taddeo's Invisalign patients will receive 4 sets of Invisalign's most advanced retainers. These will be worn at night, 8-10 hours.
How Invisalign Aligners Are Worn
Initially, a 3D scan of your teeth and x-rays are taken to determine the best course of action. The first set of aligners begins the process of moving teeth gently into place. It will not happen overnight, although you need to wear your Invisalign while you sleep. Aligners must be worn 21-22 hours every day.
Losing Braces or Leaving Them Out Too Long
Because nothing is preventing your teeth from moving back in the direction they came from when you remove the aligner trays, they will shift and move if left out of your mouth. It is generally suggested that you do not go without wearing your Invisalign braces for more than a week. If you lose one (top or bottom), get a replacement as soon as possible. You may notice quite a bit of tightness when you pop them back in again. This reflects the shift and movement in your teeth when you weren't wearing the braces daily.
